The Rector of the Church of the Holy Apostles is the Reverend Dr. Katrina L. Grusell. She came to the Church of the Holy Apostles from St. Martin's-in-the-Field, Severna Park, Maryland. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, she grew up in that city and attended public schools there. She graduated with an A.S. in medical technology from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts. Katrina later received her B.S. in psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from Worcester State College. She received her M.Div. from the Virginia Theological Seminary and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University with a concentration in Worship, Spirituality and Preaching. Ordained deacon in 1999 and priest in 2000, Katrina is a familiar face in the Patapsco Valley Area, having served as Parish Coordinator at Christ Church, Columbia, and as seminarian at St. Bartholomew's, Ten Hills.
Katrina is active in the diocese and served on various Diocesan committees. As the former Convener of MECA, the Maryland Episcopal Clergy Association, she coordinated the annual clergy conference and supported clergy fellowship. In 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, she became the co-creator and co-leader of the Katrina Episcopal Relief Maryland Impact Team, KERMIT. The KERMIT missions brought more than one hundred people to the Gulf Coast to clear debris and eventually rebuild homes. In the Arbutus area, she is a member of the Greater Arbutus Ministerium, and serves as President of the Board of the Suburban Pastoral Counseling Center.
Katrina and her husband, David Grusell, an electrical engineer, were married in October of 1984. They have two children. Peter, a UMBC graduate, is a budget analyst for the federal government. Ali, a University of Maryland graduate, is a comedian and actress in Los Angeles. All the Grusells enjoy music and theatre, comedy, roller coasters and just being a family together.
